Information
Valga is a twin town with latvian city Valka. 13 000 people live in Valga.
Valga Gymnasium has 163 students and 25 teachers.  Our school system consists of 4 different study directions which are humanitarian, maths/science, economy and national defence directions.
Our school is a very active UNESCO school: we educate people of all ages on climate and environmental issues. We organize seminars or workshops in other schools to give them our knowledge.
The aim is to help young people understand:
•       their role in a globalizing world
•       these topics through practical tasks and experience.
We deal with different global goals topics:
•       Inclusive society (individual involvement,...)
•       Sustainable lifestyle (recycling, eco ...)

•       Sustainable tourism (paper-free tourism ...)

Activities

•       Project involved -10th Grade- 28 students

We have:
•       watched movies and analyzed video clips
•       had web-based group studies and worked in groups and had discussions
•       created flyers and posters
•       listened the presentations and lectures
•       used the game (for example „Quizizz“ …)
•       workshops, different calculators  for example ecological footprint ….)
•       many different activities.

FABLES ' The Swallow and the Other Birds' It happened that a Countryman was sowing some hemp seeds in a field where a Swallow and some other birds were hopping about picking up their food. ‘Beware of that man,’ quoth the Swallow. ‘Why, what is he doing?’ said the others. ‘That is hemp seed he is sowing; be careful to pick up every one of the seeds, or else you will repent it.’ The birds paid no heed to the Swallow’s words, and by and by the hemp grew up and was made into cord, and of the cords nets were made, and many a bird that had despised the Swallow’s advice was caught in nets made out of that very hemp. ‘What did I tell you?’ said the Swallow. Destroy the seed of evil, or it will grow up to your ruin. What aim can it be linked to? Consumerism and unsustainable development can take us to a breakdown.
