Sustainable communites
Valga, Estonia case
Information
Valga is a twin
town with latvian city Valka. 13 000 people live in Valga.
Valga Gymnasium has 163 students and 25 teachers. Our school system consists of 4 different
study directions which are humanitarian, maths/science, economy and national
defence directions.
Our school is a very active UNESCO school: we educate people
of all ages on climate and environmental issues. We organize seminars or
workshops in other schools to give them our knowledge.
The aim is to help young people understand:
• their
role in a globalizing world
• these
topics through practical tasks and experience.
We deal with different global goals topics:
• Inclusive society (individual
involvement,...)
• Sustainable lifestyle (recycling, eco ...)
• Sustainable tourism (paper-free tourism
...)
