Workshop II
We have combined the theory with practical activities.
Workshops have been exciting and innovative. For example,
molecular gastronomy where students conduct chemical experiments with food.
Workshop "Molecular Gastronomy"
The practical part brought the students to the
chemistry-kitchen and we studied with the students where will the changing of
the traditional cooking methods bring us, and is it even ethical.
What will become of soup, when we use laborotory equipment
to make food. How to make "wrong" caviar, spaghetti from juice etc.
Required ingredients: agar-agar, smoothies, juice, oil. We
used the school's chemistry class. We admit, that it took a long time for the
three teachers to look at the kitchen chemistry videos and to study how to do
it ourselves.
It caused curiosity and synergy.
The goal of the workshops was to turn our attention to how
much food we waste, healthy eating and also to fantasize what would happen if
some of our food ingredients would become rare or even completely run out.
